Hi Dirty Birdy Friends!
Anna here—the founder and face behind Dirty Birdy! And when I say “friends,” I mean it. Connecting with so many of you over email and social media has been one of the biggest (and most rewarding!) surprises since launching the brand. Thank you so much for the unwavering support so far. I couldn’t be more grateful—or more excited. This is just the beginning!
We have SO much going on behind the scenes that I wanted to start sharing, and I figured this would be as good a place as any to start. You might be wondering who I’m talking about when I say “we”… No, there’s not a big team behind Dirty Birdy—yet! It’s just me and my amazing, supportive husband, Derek. He’s my sounding board, helps with operations and finances, and most importantly, keeps me sane. One of my favorite compliments is when we get messages like, “Can I speak with someone on the marketing (or ___) team?” because I’m proud that what we’ve built looks like a big team effort. But nope, it’s just the two of us!
Now, onto the good stuff: updates!
We launched the Carpenter Pants on March 27th and wow—have they been a hit! They’ve already built a bit of a cult following, and nothing makes me happier than seeing customers come back for a second (or third!) pair. Shoutout to the ladies who now have all three colors—you’re the real MVPs. We’re almost completely out of stock, so we’ve been feverishly working with our design partners and factory to reorder over 2x the original quantity. With that reorder, we’re making a few updates:
- Adding a long version for all my tall ladies! The original pant has a 30” inseam; the long version will have a 34” inseam.
- Adding an army green color to the lineup.
- Small design tweaks, including reinforced top corners on the back pockets and moving the front pocket up slightly so the inner top corner attaches to the yoke (that “V” seam).
- Introducing a heavyweight version of the pants—same design, same colors, same sizes, just a thicker fabric.
On sizing: While it won’t make it into this upcoming production run (we didn’t want to delay things!), we’re planning to shift from alpha sizing (S, M, L) to numerical waist sizing (e.g., 24, 26, 28). That means more precise fits and less of a jump between sizes—especially helpful for all my ladies who are right in between.
Next up: hats!
As an avid baseball cap wearer, I’m stoked to say Dirty Birdy hats are officially in the works. We’re waiting on our first factory sample, but we’re planning three options:
- A white/off-white hat with a forest green bill
- A washed black version
- Camo or woodland print (still deciding!)
And last but definitely not least: our next collection.
I’ve teased this on Instagram (if you’re not following us, you should! instagram.com/heydirtybirdy), but we’re working on three new garments:
- Shorts – a cutoff version of the Carpenter Pants
- Overalls – same pant base, with a top section
- A new lightweight pant – made from ripstop fabric with an adjustable waistband
We’re still early in the process. For those unfamiliar with how a garment goes from idea to reality (don’t worry—I had no clue before starting Dirty Birdy), it goes:
Design → Fabric Sourcing → First Sample → Revisions → Full Size Run (fitting check) → Pre-Production Sample (PPS) → Bulk Production.
Right now, we’re still in the fabric sourcing stage, so we’ve got a ways to go—but I’m SO excited about all three. I’ll be sharing sneak peeks on Insta along the way!
If you’ve made it this far—thank you. Starting Dirty Birdy has already been such a wild and rewarding ride, and it means the world to have you here for the journey. There’s so much more to come—not just in product, but in building this kickass community of female makers, doers, and creators.
Thanks again ❤️
Anna

Can’t wait for carpenter pant restock and overalls :D You and Derek rule!!!
As someone who is basically in between but loves the pants (I went with the larger size and added an extra button which seems to keep the waistband tight). But numerical sizes!!! Can’t wait!
